The North Shore Health Network (NSHN) Auxiliary covers the same area as the NSHN; from Echo Bay to Spanish.  The Auxiliary has six Board of Directors; two selected from each of the three Auxiliary Site Committees: Blind River, Thessalon Site and Richards Landing Matthews.  The Auxiliary is a registered charity and can issue tax receipts to donors who request their donation for specific sites, or to the NSHN Auxiliary overall.

The Auxiliary purpose is to advance public health by supporting the NSHN; support the NSHN patients, visitors and staff; and receive and maintain funds to apply all or part of the funds to the NSHN for equipment or service needs.

The Auxiliary holds fund-raising events at all three sites such as luncheons, Tag Day, Tree of Lights, Community Night, HELPP Nevada Ticket Sales; bake sales, raffles, teas, and operates a Gift Shop.  In 2016-2017 the Auxiliary raised $52,300 for equipment purchases at all three sites.   The Government doesn’t fund hospital equipment so Auxiliary volunteer fundraising and services are vital for our health care.

We have fifty-eight active Auxiliary Volunteers.  In 2017, the NSHN Auxiliary hosted the spring conference in Blind River for the Hospital Associations and Auxiliaries of Ontario (HAAO) North Central Region.  Conferences provide networking, education and fundraising ideas to support our volunteers.  The Auxiliary is a member of HAAO, and our volunteers can attend the annual fall HAAO Convention in Toronto.  We invite you to consider supporting or joining our Auxiliary.   You can meet new people, share your expertise, learn new skills; and feel good about helping others.
